Great Grimsby and Cleethorpes - North East Lincolnshire - United Kingdom
Great Grimsby and Cleethorpes are two separate towns with their own shopping areas, separated by an invisible border that a visitor would be hard pressed to notice. Both towns are administered by the North East Lincolnshire Council, combined the towns have a population of 156,616 as of the 2011 Census.Grimsby famous as Europe’s Food Town provided fresh fish daily to the tabels the length and breath of the Country from it's large distant and near water fishing fleet. A visit to the Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre can provide an interesting and colourfull history of the towns past. Cleethorpes Pier is a pleasure pier in the town. It originally cost £8,000, which was financed by the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway (later the Great Central Railway). It was officially opened on August Bank Holiday Monday 1873. Voted by members of the National Piers Society, The Pier, Cleethorpes has been named Pier of the Year 2016. It was recently taken over by PAPA’S – Cleethorpes award winning fish and chips
