"Better Use Your Head" by Little Anthony & The Imperials

In 1957, members of the doo wop group the Chesters were joined by lead singer Anthony Gourdine and briefly recorded with Apollo Records before changing their name to the Imperials and signing with End Records. They released "Tears On My Pillow" with the B-side "Two People In The World" and both were instant hits. However, the group dwindled for several years after and saw many line-up changes and attempts at solo careers. Then in 1963, everyone merged together again and Little Anthony & The Imperials were signed to the new DCP Label and started cranking out pop hits. They made the television circuit as well, performing on hugely popular programs such as CBS, twice on The Ed Sullivan Show, The Tonight Show and American Bandstand among others. They joined United Artists Records and on its Veep label created the well known and loved Northern Soul hits, such as this single and "Gonna Fix You Good", both released in 1966. The group continued to perform and record with an ever-changing line-up and did a reunion at Madison Square Garden in 1992 with the original members that rocketed them back into success. They have since played as the house band at Ceasar's Palace in Las Vegas, took part in the 40th anniversary concert for Dick Clark's American Bandstand, received the Rhythm & Blues Foundation Pioneer Award and in 2009 were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.
