Hailing from southeasern Oklahoma, originally called the Mutineers and relocating to Dallas, Texas with the moniker The Five Americans, this 5-some signed to Abnak Records and had their biggest hit with "Western Union" (1967). A talented trio of musician/songwriters Mike Rabon, John Durrill and Norm Ezell penned the majority of their songs which were in large part recorded in a studio in Tyler, Texas. This has special sentimental value to myself since I spent my early childhood in Tyler, i.e. the same years The Five Americans recorded there. "Virginia Girl" was a single from the 'Now And Then' album.
