"Someplace Else Now" is a 1972 masterpiece of an album by Lesley Gore. All of the songs were written by Lesley herself, or in collaboration with Ellen Weston or her brother, Michael Gore. I remember being blown away by it when it first came out - and I remember being SO PROUD of Lesley - this was truly a talented, imaginative songwriter and it was a revelation to hear Lesley being in this new place in her career! This was the time of Carole King's iconic masterpiece "Tapestry", and I could not help but make favorable comparisons between these two albums and these two songwriters. While it must be admitted that Carole King is truly in a class by herself - with a body of work that is unmatched and mind-boggling in its variety - I still felt that here, Lesley was presenting a musicale of such intelligence, depth and beauty that Carole King herself would be the first to applaud her efforts! This was the first flowering of Lesley's songwriting talents after some initial songs she and Michael composed when she was still at Mercury. Her songwriting talent kept maturing and mellowing over the years. If you have never heard these performances, I hope you enjoy them. At this point in time, Johnny - Judy - "It's My Party" and all Lesley's other beloved hits were still so much a part of her persona - as they always would be. But on another level, it was the 1970s - she was maturing as a woman, a person and a songwriter - and she was truly "Someplace Else Now".

"She Said That" is an introspective little song about the loneliness and personal alienation that we can face in life. A thought provoking story-song beautifully presented and realized.
