Johnny Kidd ( born Frederick Heath 23 December 1935 died 7 October 1966) was an British singer and songwriter . He was a pre-Beatles British rock and roller who achieved worldwide fame and wrote his own songs unlike many artists of the time. Please Dont Touch was his first hit single.
Kidd's most famous song as a songwriter was Shakin' All Over, a #1 UK hit for Johnny Kidd & The Pirates in 1960. Kidd's own version didn't chart outside of Europe, but The Guess Who`s 1965 version topped the Canadian charts and was also a #22 US hit and in Australia Normie Rowe topped the charts with his version in 1965. It was also famously covered by The Who on the Live at Leeds album.
Sadly Johnny Kidd died aged only 30 in 1966 in a car accident . RIP
