As I recently read Howard Zinn's book, "A People's History of the United States," this song came to mind while reading of the people injured, imprisoned, and killed by police brutality for demonstrating against slave-like working conditions during the labor movement of the latter 1800s and early 1900s. Although this tune is a protest against the Vietnam War, it represents everyone who has been attacked by the police, including the Occupy Movement of today.
