'Banquet For The World', from The Freshmens second LP released in 1970 - Peace On Earth (CBS S 64099). A 'concept' album of sorts, it was considered by many to be a masterpiece with some calling it the greatest Irish Album ever made. The album featured Micheal Mac Liammoir who acted as a narrator on each track.
I wonder did Jeff Wayne own a copy of this album at some stage. There's a remarkable similarity between the opening passage of this track and the opening passage that leads into the War Of The Worlds. The sombre spoken introduction followed by a rich orchestral musical score.
I'm not invoking controversy just noting the analogy.
