The Davitt Country Band look set to take the Country Music scene by storm with the launch of their much anticipated new album,'Marlena' and, if the reaction to their fantastic new video and single - 'Marlena' is anything to go by - the boys look set for a busy year!
Seldom does a group of musicians receive such excitement for a new album -- especially amongst such a young fan base! And, sure, why wouldn't they? It's in their blood!!! The Davitt Country Band is the next generation of musicians from the well known Davitt Family from Wexford, who dominated the dancehall from the 1950's right up to the 1990's. The Davitt Country Band is a young, fresh outfit who's average age is in the upper teens! According to Bob Harris from Ampersand Music USA - 'The Davitt Country Band are an Exciting, Vibrant and Exhilarating Band'of young men that look set to mesmerize the Country Music dancehalls all over again with their popular Country, Irish and Show-band sound!
The Davitt Country Band will embark on a much anticipated Launch Tour all over Ireland and the UK where they enjoy a popular following. Travel is no problem for these guys as, according to trumpet player, Steven - 'It's one of the most enjoyable parts of this job'. According to 18 years old Niall, who plays Bass Guitar in the band - 'Touring all over Ireland, Scotland and America is a Dream Come True'!
All these young men started playing music at a very tender age. 22 years-old Thomas, has been playing guitar since the age of 10. And some have even sacrificed potential professional careers as athletes in favour of the band. The keyboard player, Nathan, who only recently turned 18 years old, played in goal for his native county, and Derek, who plays saxophone, played soccer for Shamrock Rovers and turned down an opportunity to try for a Soccer Academy in the UK, in favour of the Band - but all with no regrets!
2012 will certainly be a highlight on The Davitt Country Band's calender. Seldom does an Album launch attract such attention.
