On 5th June 1968 as Robert Francis Kennedy was leaving a campaign address to his supporters he was assassinated, Andy Williams was preparing to meet up with his friend at a club when he saw the aftermath of the shooting on tv. Ethel Kennedy, Bobby's widow asked Andy to sing at the funeral. Battle Hymn Of The Republic, one of Bobby's favourites and Ave Maria were recorded at the service and released to benefit a Robert Kennedy memorial.
