Sandy's version of the #9 Billboard Pop 1957 hit by Johnny Mathis, which itself was adapted from the old English folk song, "I Gave My Love A Cherry" (also known as "The Riddle Song"). Other charting versions: #8 UK for Cliff Richard in 1964, #17 Country for Slim Whitman in 1966, #47 R&B for the Chi-Lites in 1969, #8 Hot 100 for Donny Osmond (also #7 Adult Contemporary, #1 UK) in 1973, #98 Country for David Houston in 1977 and #21 UK for Elvis Presley in 1995.
