One of the last singles released by D.C. native, Billy Stewart. Nobody had the uniqueness of this man's vocal stylings, and i've always said no one finished a song like Billy Stewart could. Released in '69, this track undoubtedly was done a few years earlier. Billy Davis left Chess in 1967, and being his production, this had to have been done before then. Also of note is that instead of the usual Phil Wright or Charles Stepney treatment, this track was arranged by New Yorker Bert Keyes. Though known for those wonderful, misty mid-tempo ballads, I always felt this was a great vocal performance that has been sadly overlooked. And like pookie says, nobody finishes a song like Billy Stewart. Enjoy another in the legacy of Soul Music's stylistic genius. A Universal Music Group recording.
